CHORWAD
A small fishing village, Chorwad rose into importance when Nawab saheb Mohabbat Khan  of Junagadhbuilt here a palace by the sea where he would retreat on hot summer days for cool breezes from over the sea. Here he held weddings of his dogs, royal banquets and proccessions. The palace was taken over by the Tourism corp of Gujarat in 1974 and converted into a resort. Chorwad is the place to enjoy great views of the rocky shores, rides in a country boat and visits to the colourful fishing villages, and as a base for visits to places like Porbandar, Somnath etc.

PORBANDAR
The historic princely city of Porbandar, on the shores of the Arabian sea has some beaches and creeks rich in flamingoes and other shore birds. "It stands in the most magnificent position overlooking a lake with hills all round and a view over the plain towards the sea," wrote William Barton, a British official. The Daria Mahal Palace facing the sea, is a delightful work of architecture. The city's greatest claim to fame is as a birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, whose old residence, Kirti Mandir, is now a memorial museum that traces his life through a series of memorabalia and library.
