The meeting place of 7 rivers,
Vautha is the site for one of
the major livestock fairs that
take place during the Kartika
Poornima period. The camel mart
takes place on the rivershores,
with brilliantly decorated camels
brought here for sale, and the
donkey mart in the fields adjoining
the fair. The donkeys are gaily
painted to attract buyers. Several
thousand donkeys and a few hundred
camels are sold during the fairs.
This is place to see rakishly
turbaned herdspeople, with their
livestock. Bazaars, ferris wheels
and sugar cane juice vendors
can be seen at the Vautha fair
ground.
Other important fairs on
Kartika Poornima, are the
tribal fair of Shamlaji, the
religious fair at Somnath
and the camel fair at Siddhapur.
